For Him: Grooming For The Wedding

Everyone wants to feel their best on the day they are set to get married. However, planning a wedding can be really stressful, and when you’re stressed you may not feel or look your best. Although we’re not here to add more to your planning plate, knowing exactly how to prep for the big day will help you feel great and enjoy your wedding day. I’m sure your bride already has a list for exactly how she will be getting herself ready for your wedding, so here are a few (easy!) things you can do for yourself Enjoy our blog post For Him: Grooming For The Wedding.

Get Fit!

Getting in shape for your wedding is a goal almost all brides and grooms set for themselves. And you can start right after, or even before, you pop the question. Starting an exercise regimen is not only great for your mental health, to help keep planning stress at bay, you can slim down or tone up as well! It’s easier than ever to crush your fitness goals with pocket training apps. Whether you like to run or hit the gym for a training session, there’s an app for that. If traditional exercise isn’t your thing, grab your friends for a game of soccer or your fiancé for a tennis match. You will burn calories without even realizing it, because you’ll be having fun!

Start A Skincare Routine

If you want to have glowing and youthful skin for your wedding day, start a routine a few months before the wedding. You want to give your skin time to get used to trying out new products, to avoid any breakouts or spots right before the wedding. This doesn’t have to be complicated! Simply wash your face day and night, and follow up with a hydrating facial moisturizer. Another huge part of skin care is your shaving routine. Use high quality razors and shaving products, such as those from Harry’s, to ensure a closely shaven face that’s free from nicks. Even if you rock a beard or mustache, using proper shaving techniques will help you get straight lines and a neat-looking face.

Try Out Hairstyles

We all know that the bride does a trial run for her wedding day hair and makeup. But as the groom, you should consider doing the same for your hairstyle. If you want to try out a new hairstyle, be sure to do it a few months before your wedding, so you can grow it out if need be. The last thing you want is to meet your fiancé on the aisle with a hairdo you don’t love. However, if you’ve found the look you love, be sure to snap a photo so it can be perfectly replicated right before the wedding.

Whiten Your Teeth

If you are a coffee or red wine enthusiast, you may want to consider whitening your teeth before your big day. Whitening your teeth is easier and quicker than ever with at home products, like these whitening strips from Crest. You will be smiling a lot on your wedding day, and ensuring you have a bright smile will be worth it when you get your wedding photos back! Whitening strips are user-friendly, and only take a half hour out of your day. Plus, you don’t have to think about doing this until a week or two before your wedding, that’s how quick they work!

The Final Touches...

If you’re days away from your wedding but you want to make a few changes to your look, tackling things like your brows and nails can have a big impact! Trimming your brows is easy to do yourself and can be done a couple days before the wedding and they will stay looking great. Trim, file and clean up your nails the morning of so they don’t get dirty beforehand. Paying attention to small details like this show your fiancé that you took pride in how you look as the two of you commit your lives to each other.

5 Tips for a Stress-Free Engagement Photo Shoot

Whether you love to strike a pose or you’re camera shy, getting photographed professionally can be uncharted territory for most couples. But have no fear! We’ve compiled a list of five tips to ensure you have a stress-free engagement photo shoot and love the process too!

1. Relax

Although planning a wedding is such an exciting time in life, it can sometimes be a little (or a lot) stressful. Before your session, be sure to put your stress aside, relax, and have fun with your photo shoot. This is a great opportunity for you and your fiancé to take a step away from your wedding planning and focus on being in love and engaged. Your engagement is such a short period of your life. It’s important to take a step back every once in a while and enjoy it!

2. Get to know your photographer

It’s completely normal to feel anxious or camera shy before the shoot - but having a photographer that you feel comfortable with will help make the process a little easier. Your photographer will be sure to get to know you and your partner before the session, but it’s important that you get to know your photographer as well. Think beyond your engagement photos. Your photographer is most likely the person who will be by your side through your wedding day too, so it’s important that you click.

3. Dress to impress

Not only will you look back on your engagement photos for years to come, but you will probably also use them for save the date cards, brochures, and wedding booklets. Therefore, what you wear in your photos is extremely important. Keep it simple and wear something that you feel comfortable in. To avoid regret down the line, stay away from brand names and patterns. If you plan on doing an outfit change, bring one formal outfit and one casual outfit. Engagement shoots are only one session, so you want it to look cohesive.

4. Pick the perfect location

The location of your shoot is almost as important as what you wear. You and your fiancé should choose a location that is important to you. Choosing a location that is opposite of your wedding is great too so that your wedding and engagement photos are different when you look at the scenery or season. For example, if your wedding is in the spring a fall shoot would be perfect. Plus, the beautiful foliage will be the perfect backdrop for your photos! When choosing a location for your shoot, be sure to check if there’s a required fee and if a permit is needed before your shoot.

5. Don’t forget it’s all about you

Your engagement photos are so you can look back on this time in your lives when you and your partner are old and gray. Of course you may choose to post some of your photos from the sessions (because did it really happen if you didn’t post it on social media?!), but it’s not about social media or what your family and friends want to see. This is a great time to simply focus on you and your fiancé and what the two of you desire for the session. Enjoy it!

Whether you’re engaged and scheduling your photoshoot or still shopping for engagement rings and just want more information, I hope these tips were helpful! The most important thing to remember for your engagement shoot is to have fun and be yourself!

Uma and Nandini's Indian Wedding in Detroit, MI

I boarded a plane to head to Detroit to photograph Uma and Nandini's wedding when they announced on the speakers that is was going to be a bumpy ride! And boy was it a terrible flight. I thanked God when we landed and swore that I will drive to the next wedding, although I'm pretty sure that won't happen. But the flight quickly faded into a memory as the excitement of having the honor of photographing a beautiful friends wedding kicked in- Uma and her now husband Nandini. Uma is a fearless preacher and sincere friend who is liked by so many. The wedding was packed with family and friends literally from all over the world! From England to Africa and to iIndia- you name it and someone probably flew in from there. The most magical things is that the entire wedding was coordinated by her friends and Family! Uma showed some serious trust in the process, and the wedding came out beautifully. The wedding took place in the Ann Arbor Marriott at Eagle Crest. I loved that the ceremony site was situated amongst lush greenery including tall pine trees and open golf fields which was perfect for formals. Their Color scheme was Pink, Red and Gold with beautiful rose floral arrangements draping the mandap and reception hall.

Check out the beautiful Ceremony stage! We want to wish Nandini and Uma an amazing journey together as husband and wife

Sheerin and Naren's Romantic Indian Wedding at Holy Trinity Church Reception Center

Sheerin and Naren's wedding was absolutely stunning. The vibrant Hindu ceremony started before the break of dawn followed by a reception in the evening.  For their reception, Sheering chose a stunning gold embroidered maroon velvet lehenga skirt paired with a matching choli embellished with a gorgeous pink and gold dupatta. Naren wore a tuxedo with a matching bow.  I'm in love with their images and even more in love with them as a couple. They are truly the sweetest people that you will meet! The Trinity Church reception center was transformed into the most stunning space thanks to event designers at Dreams to Reality and their wedding planners with Anna Christine Events. The wedding was a feast for the eyes with an amazing reception to top it off. It took us one whole hour to photograph all of their wedding details from both the ceremony and reception. The festivities and choreographies performed during the reception kept the couple and guest entertained until the very end before being driven away in a blue antique Rolls Royce. I'm beyond excited to share their images today! I also want to wish Sheerin a very happy birthday- this sneak peel could not come at a better day! Please send all of your blessings to the lovely couple!
